New Year Resolutions

New Year Resolution Craft

The New Year is approaching and many people (including me) are starting to think on the goals they want to accomplish next year.  Statistics say that people who write down their goals and display them in a place that can be seen often (e.g. bathroom mirror) are more inclined to accomplish all their resolutions.  Here is a project to display your New Year Resolutions.

  • White paper (8×11)
  • 1” paint brush or sponge
  • Fine brush
  • Blue acrylic paint
  • Pink acrylic paint
  • Brown acrylic paint
  • Burlap
  • Green felt
  • White glue
  • Scissors
  • Picture frame

Step 1:  Using the blue acrylic paint and 1″ paint brush (sponge is also fine for this part of the project), paint 3/4 parts of the paper using short brush strokes to simulate the sky.

Steps 2 and 3: Using the 1″ paint brush or sponge and the same brush stroke technique used in step 1, paint the rest of the paper with the green paint overlapping a little bit with the blue paint.  With the fine brush, draw 3 brown semi-curvy lines to make flower stems as shown in the picture below.

Step 4:  Cut out 4 leaves of 1″ long of the green felt.

Step 5:  Cut out 3 circles of 2 1/2″ diameter of the burlap and shape them like tulips.  Then paint the tulip cutouts with the pink paint.

Step 6:   Write down your New Year resolutions.  Assemble and glue the tulips and leaves cutouts on the paper.
