I always wanted to do the advent calendar with my kids. Last year I finally bought one. Instead of an activity or a piece of candy in each door in the advent calendar, I put a riddle. Under the Christmas tree, there were the activities for each day in individual boxes covered in Christmas wrap. On the boxes, there were the answers to the riddles. The kids read the riddle and then went to the Christmas tree to find the “present” that answered the riddle. Sometimes they didn’t know the answer right away so we played “hot cold hot”. They loved it!
